Oct. 16

Hello Students and Parents,

As we wrap up our first module, I am checking in with a few updates.

End of Module 1
Today, Friday October 16 marked the last day of our first module of instruction. Module 1 final projects were due today, though students still have time to complete their work and make revisions as needed. Unless students arrange for an individualized extension, module 1 projects will expire on Friday, Oct. 30 (but who wants to wait that long!). Please remember that your work should be submitted via Google Classroom. If you have a question about anything, please contact your teacher directly.

Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Meetings – 10/19-10/20
By now, we hope that you have scheduled your ILP meeting with your advisor. These meetings will take place on Monday and Tuesday of next week, either at Next or virtually. If you aren’t sure of your meeting date/time, please contact your advisor. There is NO SCHOOL for students on these two days, except they must attend their meeting. However, this is a great time for them to work on any existing assignments/projects so they don’t fall behind. We cannot host students at Next on these two days because our building will be busy with meetings, so we hope that students can find quiet environments at home.

Community Day – 10/21
Our next Community Day will be on Wednesday, October 21. These days are mandatory days of school for all students unless a parent has requested that their child does NOT participate in these days. As a reminder, the morning group is from 8:45-11:15 and the afternoon group is group is from 12:30-3:00 (our schedule has not changed). We use the time in between to host clubs and to clean and disinfect the space.

Module 2 Begins – 10/22
At your ILP meeting you will discuss your schedule for module 2. These classes will begin on Thursday, October 22. Class start times are 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, and 2:00. Your advisor will review your specific schedule with you. Class attendance is required each day and all students must have their cameras turned on. Please talk with your advisor if you have questions.

Reminders about our community wellness
Next continues to work hard to ensure that we practice safe and healthy habits to keep all members of our community safe. Though there are no guarantees, our individual actions have an impact on our collective outcomes. We encourage students and families to continue to be vigilant about hand washing, avoiding large crowds, and watching for symptoms. Students have been doing a great job wearing their masks while at school and we want to thank all those families for the regular communication with us. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns you have.
